About Me

Hi!

I’m Katie and I love to create things in the kitchen.  Baking is a sort of therapy for me.  I started this blog to journal all of my successful recipes and also not so successful recipes (trust me, there are many, many failures!).  I was inspired to start What Katie's Baking after I started reading other blogs and realized that I wanted to be all of those bloggers that I admire so much.  Plus, I knew I would be able to make and taste all sorts of goodies, and what's better than that?  I'm so glad I started it because I've interacted with so many interesting, exciting, diverse, and wonderful people.  I consider this blog my other part-time job.  The fun one.  It can be time-consuming, but it's what I love and I'm a big advocate of doing what you love! Also, my blog is just a place for me to practice my writing and photography skills.

I just recently got my associates degree in Communications of Art.  I'm now attending Park University and am majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Marketing. I absolutely love it!  From here I'm hoping to attend one more year of school to get a pastry certificate.  After that, I really have no idea what to do.  I'm just going with the flow for now.

Sometimes people ask me how I keep up with this blog and maintain a healthy weight.  The key, for me, is to incorporate good foods and exercise in as well.  I also try to control my portions... most of the time.  Yeah, sometimes I'll eat an entire pan of brownies, but mostly I stick to one or two servings (and some tasting throughout the process).  I'm not a crazy exercise-er.  I exercise about thirty minutes a day 2-5 days a week. I don't do it to lose weight, I just do it stay healthy.  I also go through phases where I won't exercise at all.  It just depends.  What's most important to me is how I feel.  If I'm happy, that's all that matters, because what's the point of life if you're miserable?  Do what makes you happy!  Everyone's ingredients for that are different, so don't compare yourself to others.

I love to hear what you have to say, so don't forget to leave me comments. If you have anything you'd like to see, any recipes, anything, let me know!  Your ideas are much appreciated and definitely needed.

Fun facts and pictures:

Family is THE very most important thing to me in the world.  I love them all, they're very important to me, and I wouldn't be who I am today without them!

Let's get to know them...

These are my parents and I've learned everything I know from them :)
Mom and Dad
This is his "Robert Di Nero" look.  Or so he says.

My sister and nephew and niece

Other facts/secrets/etc.:

I have a boyfriend, his name is Kellen, and he's absolutely wonderful.  He doesn't really like sweets, but he tries everything I make.  He's perfect. (For me.)

One day his little cousin asked us how we're together if we don't like the same food.  Luckily, we have a couple of other things in common. ;)

For example, we're both silly:

And when we need to,we can be appropriate:

And also, serious when we need to be:

But other than that, she's right, I don't know how we do it.  Haha! Just kidding :)

And, lastly, I love my friends, and without them, I don't know what I'd do!

I feel that everyone you meet in life impacts you in some way, so if you want that impact to be a good one, treat everyone kindly.
